Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-11
This Cookie Policy explains how Advanced Tracking Academy uses cookies and similar technologies on its website, what each one does, and how you can control them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, and server-side identifiers. Some are essential for the site to work; others are optional and require your consent before we activate them.
2. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary — required for core site functions, security, and storing your privacy choices. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the site and how campaigns perform. Off by default; activated only with your consent.
- Advertising — help us measure whether ads on Meta, Google, and TikTok result in visits or leads. Off by default; activated only with your consent.
- Personalization — could be used in future to remember preferences. Off by default; activated only with your consent.
3. Cookie inventory
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
ata_consent | ATA | Strictly necessary | Stores your privacy choices (categories, timestamp, policy version) so the banner does not re-appear on every visit | 6 months |
| Server-side consent evidence | ATA / Stape Store | Strictly necessary (compliance record) | Server-side record of consent categories, timestamp, and policy version for accountability and legal defense | 5 years (server-side, not a browser cookie) |
_ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes users and supports website analytics | Up to 2 years (browser); 90 days ATA server-side retention |
_gid | Google Analytics | Analytics | Short-session analytics identifier | Up to 24 hours |
_gcl_aw | Google Ads / Conversion Linker | Advertising | Stores ad-click information for Google Ads conversion attribution | Up to 90 days |
_fbp | Meta | Advertising | Helps measure Meta ad performance and associate visits with campaigns | ~90 days (vendor and browser dependent) |
_fbc | Meta | Advertising | Stores click-related campaign information from Meta ad interactions | ~90 days (vendor and browser dependent) |
_ttp | TikTok | Advertising | Measures and improves TikTok campaign performance and matching | 13 months from last use |
fbclid, gclid, gbraid, wbraid, ttclid, utm_* | Ad platforms / ATA | Advertising | Capture campaign-source and click information from the URL. These are URL parameters, not browser cookies — ATA stores them server-side. | 90 days ATA server-side retention |
4. How to manage your choices
You can change your cookie preferences at any time:
- Use the Privacy Settings link in the footer of any page
- Change your browser settings to block or delete cookies
- Clear cookies already stored on your device
Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works. Blocking analytics or advertising cookies does not affect your ability to use the site.
5. Retention
Browser-side cookie duration and ATA server-side retention are separate. A vendor cookie may stay in your browser according to vendor defaults, while ATA applies its own 90-day server-side retention baseline for raw attribution identifiers.
6. Region-specific handling
For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Brazil, all non-essential cookies are off by default. You must actively choose to enable them. For US visitors, analytics may be active by default as permitted under applicable law; you can opt out at any time using Privacy Settings or a Global Privacy Control browser signal.
